The Group’s President Zhu Bixin met with Minister for the Development of Russian Far East

On May 15, the Group’s President Zhu Bixin met with Alexandra Galushka, Minister for the Development of Russian Far East, who was participating the Belt and Road International Cooperation Forum in Beijing. The two sides held in-depth communication on investment and collaboration in Russian Far East region. The Group’s Vice President Li Yousheng attended the meeting.
Zhu Bixin extended his sincere welcome to Galushka and the delegation and expressed his gratitude to Russian government and Galushka for their support and care over Chengtong’s development in Russia, and introduced China Chengtong’s reform and development, China National Paper-Industry Investment Corporation Ltd.’s (China Paper) pulp paper production, and the possibility of pulp paper investment in Russian Far East region. Zhu Bixin noted that China Chengtong attached great importance to its investment and development in Russia and fully supported China Paper’s forestry investment in Russian Far East region and the project of establishing a pulp mill in Khabarovsk. China Paper would send experts to Russia to further investigation and research to facilitate the implementation of this project and to achieve a mutually beneficial and win-win situation on the basis of scientific and thorough study. In the meantime, Zhu Bixin hoped that Ministry for the Development of Russian Far East could provide more support and guidance to this project on investment policies, forestry resources, laboring, environmental protection, etc.
Galushka explicated the development of Russian Far East region and its preferential policies for investment, competitive edge, project construction and other issues. Galushka emphasised that with the deepening of the Belt and Road Initiative, Russian would further its collaboration with China in terms of trade, investment and other areas. Ministry for the Development of Russian Far East welcomed Chengtong’s investment in Russian Far East region and would provide full support to Chengtong’s forestry investment and the establishment of pulp mill in Khabarovsk. Galushka would like to actively promote the implementation of the project and advance economic development between China and Russia to achieve common development.
